Ethos & Values

Imagine, Believe, Achieve…

In our school community every individual is respected, valued and nurtured; we share a belief about every child’s ability to exceed their dreams.

We teach children to love life, themselves and the world around them. Through learning we foster curiosity, perseverance and resilience.

We believe that our attributes are not fixed; that our abilities and intelligence can grow through engagement, effort and by embracing challenge.

Values Education

At Ryelands Primary and Nursery school we teach and celebrate values through our curriculum as well as through everything we do. Our school community has chosen the following values as the ones we hold most dear:

Responsibility
Respect
Resilience
Empathy
Honesty
Perseverance
Co-operation
Positivity
Acceptance
Courage
Love
Unity

British Values (as outlined by the Government) are addressed through our Values Education. Each half term we focus on one value and explore this in classes and through assemblies. Our School Council plays a role and parents / carers are also invited to get involved; challenges are sometimes set and positive outcomes are celebrated.

Values Newsletters

Below are our current, and previous, Values Newsletters. Read to discover how our incredible Values Heroes have modelled our values, which class has won the Values Victors award, and to find ideas on how you can continue your child’s Values learning at home.
