The children showed an interest in traditional stories.

First we learnt the story Little Red Riding Hood and this nicely linked to learning the colour red. The children loved watching the adults acting out the story, dressed up in costumes.

Then we worked on the 3 little pigs story. We linked the colour yellow to this story- making houses with yellow and red bricks, sitting on yellow hay  bales to read stories and making tea for the 3 little pigs with yellow playdough, 3 plates, 3 cups and 3 sets of cutlery.
