Our nursery shop

February 10, 2026

Role‑playing in our nursery shop is giving our pre-school children a wonderfully rich way to learn through imagination and real‑world mimicry. When children take on roles like shopkeeper and customer, they are practising early maths skills as they “buy” and “sell” items, experiment with language as they negotiate and chat, and build social confidence by taking turns and cooperating with others. It is also helping them make sense of everyday experiences—handling pretend money, organising items, or solving small problems—so they begin to understand how the world around them works. All of this is happening in a playful environment that nurtures creativity and boosts their growing independence.
The children have also been developing their literacy skills writing shopping lists and matching pictures to the written words on the shopping lists.
