Year 5 visit to Manchester Museum

Today, year 5 were invited to visit Manchester Museum and take part in the Time Odyssey Challenge. Hori (an Egyptian boy) had been transported through time and needed the children’s help to get back to his era. The children used Ipads to explore the exhibits and artefacts. They were able to use their knowledge of materials from last term to help in their first challenge. They particularly enjoyed the Ancient Egypt room which introduced our new topic for this term. Excitingly, we found a real mummy inside a sarcophagus which drew a lot of our attention. We learnt about the stories of people’s lives in Ancient Egypt before moving on to explore artefacts covering the periods of time we have learnt in previous years – Stone age, Iron age and Romans.
