Police officer visits nursery

February 12, 2026

Today the children took part in a visit from Police Officer James. He spoke to the children about how the police help people and how we can keep ourselves safe. The children listened really well and were eager to answer questions. They learned about the importance of knowing their full names in case they ever need help.
The children were excited to try on a police hat, have their fingerprints taken and sit inside the police car. Many children confidently asked questions and shared their own experiences about seeing police officers in their community. Some children engaged in role play afterwards, pretending to be police officers and talking about keeping people safe.

We were also given a special teddy bear from the police officer to look after. The children decided to name the teddy “James” after the lovely police officer who came to visit us. James the teddy will stay in the Rainbow Room for a while to help us remember how to stay happy and safe.
