Nursery visit from Life Education Service
April 14, 2026Today, the children enjoyed a special visit from Harold the Giraffe from the Life Education Service. The session focused on helping the children understand their bodies and how to keep themselves healthy.
The children learned about their senses and discussed what we use our eyes, ears, nose, and mouth for. They took part in simple exercises and were introduced to the idea that the heart pumps blood around the body to keep us healthy, and that we need air to breathe in order to live.
We also explored the importance of sleep, learning that our bodies grow and recover when we go to sleep each night. The children discussed ways to stay clean and healthy, including washing hands with soap and water to remove germs, washing hair with shampoo, and brushing teeth every morning and night.
The session included singing a song called “I Am Special”, which supported the children’s sense of self and wellbeing. To finish the visit, the children had the opportunity to gently stroke Harold the Giraffe, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
