Ancient Greek Pots

October 20, 2025

Year 6 Create Stunning Greek Clay Pots!

This term, Year 6 have been diving into the world of Ancient Greece through art – and the results have been absolutely fantastic!

As part of their topic, the children explored the history and significance of Greek pottery, studying original designs and patterns to inspire their own creations. From amphorae to kraters, they learned about the different types of pots and their uses in ancient times.

Using traditional pottery techniques such as coil, slip, and slab, the children carefully planned, designed, and built their very own clay pots. Every pot is unique and shows a fantastic level of creativity, patience, and craftsmanship.

Throughout the project, pupils developed their understanding of shape, form, and structure, while also gaining hands-on experience with clay.
Come back next week to see them painted.  We will be using orange and blacks paints, in the style of greek pots.
