Year 1

Hello and welcome to Year 1!

In Year 1 the teachers are,

Our TA’s are Mrs Cooper in Chestnut class and Miss Bell in Cedar.

Our PPA teacher is Mrs Monoghan (Tuesday mornings for Cedar).

In Year 1 we expect children to read every night, the teacher will check each morning and books will be changed Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Children that manage to read every night will have their faces up on the window for everyone to see their achievement.

PE days are Tuesday and Friday for Cedar and Tuesday and Thursday for Chestnut. Children will need outdoor shoes, PE pumps, their team-coloured top and either black shorts or leggings.

Phonics Screening

The Phonics Screening is a national test taken in June. The test consists of 40 words to read split into two categories: Real and nonsense. The children work towards this all year through their phonics lessons and interventions. More information about the Phonics Screening is available closer to the time.
