Over the last year, the ‘Widening Horizons’ children’s project, run by arts charity Kendal Windows on Art (KWoA), has provided valuable opportunities for self-development through a series of creative workshops for children in the Ryelands community, to explore their hopes, dreams and aspirations.

The activities were called ‘Chit Chat’ sessions and soon the children who came along became known as the ‘Chitchatters’. The children decided that they’d like to create a book called ‘Widening Horizons -the Big Adventure’.

The group met regularly and explored a wide range of art techniques. KWoA artists Nicki Smith and Priscilla Edwards helped the Chitchatters to experiment with dye transfer tissue, mark making, collage, mask making, weaving and drawing.
