We showed the children how to represent their own stories using a story map. We modelled to the children how to draw pictures/symbols to record their own made up story.

We were EXTREMELY impressed with how the children INDEPENDENTLY made up their own stories and drew representative pictures to help them to remember the events of their story in the correct order. Once completed they could tell all their friends (and different adults) about their story, using story language that they had learnt from various different books that they had heard previously.
