Welcome to 4G!

Mrs Grist and Ms Knowles are happy to help with any questions you may have, especially in this confusing time. We expect all children to be reading 5 nights a week. If the children do read 5 nights a week they will be entered into a raffle that will be drawn at the end of each half term. The lucky winner will win a book of their choice. Autumn 1 winner was: Morgan Thompson- Well Done Morgan!

P.E

P.E days are Tuesdays and Fridays. At the moment we are trying to learn outside as much as possible. Please make sure that your child is wearing appropriate outdoor P.E clothing, trainers, school P.E top, a hoodie or jumper and tracksuit bottoms.

World Wide Wanderers!

Geography

This half terms unit is all about Spain and Europe. We will be taking a look at the countries that make up Europe, where they are on the map and the different languages spoken. We will be paying particular attention to Spain and all things Spanish! Part of this unit will be looking at the culture and landscape of Spain. If you have any pictures of Spain or memories that the children can share please tell us or upload them to Google Classroom as we would love to share these out in class!

English

Keeping with the Spanish theme we will be creating an interactive non chronological report this half term. The children will design and create their own lift up the flap report to reveal facts they have learnt as well as useful information. As the weather gets colder we will also be taking a ride on The Polar Express, stay tuned…

Art and Design

In Art we will be looking at famous artist Picasso, especially his cubism phase. The children will be exploring what cubism means as well as creating cubist pieces of work themselves. In Design Technology, we will be looking, tasting and evaluating Spanish food starting with Paella. We will take a look at making this ourselves and making recipe cards for others.

Home Learning

All homework will now be set via Google Classroom. Your child has used Google Classroom lots of times in class and is all set up and ready to start learning at home. Follow the links below to get to the designated home learning websites. Your child’s passwords and usernames are in the back of their reading record. Please keep them safe. In the event of a school closure or local lockdown your child is required to participate in lessons that are set for each day and submit their work. Work will be marked and feedback given to ensure your child is getting the very best learning. I will be on hand through Google Classroom to offer any assistance needed.

Have fun guys and stay safe!

Recently we have been learning about Anglo Saxons. It all started when a box of artefacts meant for the world museum in Liverpool ended up in our class. We quickly took them out to investigate and that led us to the mystery of what life must have been like way back in 410 AD. We have explored kingdoms, betrayals, village life and even created our own artefacts! Take a look at our masterpieces in the gallery.
